This week the international community will have their eyes focused on Hawaii. Hawaii is not only a tourist destination of sand and surf, but is playing host to over 21 leaders of countries throughout Asia and the Pacific Rim from November 07-13, 2011. The meetings will be held at the Hawaii Convention Center in Honolulu. Many of Hawaii’s businesses will be showcased and introduced during this event.
APEC, or the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation, is the premier forum for Asia-Pacific economies to cooperate on regional trade and investment issues. Its annual Leaders and Ministerial meetings are attended by heads of state, cabinet ministers, business leaders among many others. Some of the participating heads of state include countries such as Australia, Canada, Japan and Russia. APEC’s annual Leader’s Meeting is hosted each year by a different member economy. Estimates of close to 10,000 people will be participating in the conference. Hawaii and its people will be on center stage as it will be the host to the largest international event in the state’s history.
