The Na Koa Volleyball Girls’ U14 Team participated for the first time in the Southern California Volleyball Association’s Summer Soiree at the Anaheim Convention Center from June 26-29. There were almost 300 teams enrolled and the convention halls were filled with 90+ volleyball courts. It was quite an impressive and well-run tournament, and volleyball ruled the world for 4 days. The Na Koa girls did well and stood up against many amazing teams, it was a great experience for everyone. Women’s volleyball in Hawaii has become a very popular sport thanks to the successful Rainbow Wahine Team whose Head Coach Dave Shoji enters his 40th season this year. He guided UH to its 19th straight conference title and 32nd trip to the NCAA Tournament, and he became the all-time winningest coach in the NCAA Division I women’s volleyball history.
