The Namolokama Canoe Club Open 1 Team racing past Honopu Valley

Congratulations to Kahealani Zietz (RA, ePro) and her Namolokama Canoe Club team for winning the 13th Annual Na Pali Challenge this past Saturday, August 14th with a time of 4:41:37 – over three minutes faster than the next competitor.  Way to go!

The Namolokama Open 1 Ladies team. Kahea second from left.

The Na Pali Challenge was hosted by the Garden Island Racing Canoe Association.  Teams from around the state and abroad come to Kauai to participate in this epic 38 mile race that begins in beautiful Hanalei Bay on the north shore of Kauai and finishes on the west side of the island in Waimea.  During the race, teams paddle past some of the most majestic scenery in the Hawaiian islands.

Each team consists of 6 men and 6 women.  The two teams each take turns in the canoe and do a water change every thirty minutes.  Kahea and her team rounded the final buoy and won the race!  Congratulations to Kahea and the Namolokama team!
