My friends and I enjoy swimming, especially in the ocean.  Living on Kauai lets us do that year round.  During the summer months, we tend to focus our swims on the north shore of the island because conditions are calmer.  In the winter months, we head south and swim on the south shore, primarily in the Poipu area.  The water is amazingly clear; it’s as if you’re swimming in HDTV! So many turtles and schools of fish in amazing colors! Sometimes it’s hard to stay focused on the swim, but that’s the joy of swimming in the ocean.

There are a few adventurous routes we like to follow, but even swimming in the fairly protected Poipu Beach Park bay, you can see some amazing sea life! My friend, Robert Rekward, took these photos with a ContourHD camera on one of our outings.  For more of his photos you can go to his website http://Rekward.com.  Enjoy!
