Congratulations to Kahealani Zietz (RA) our Property Manager, whose team, Namolokama Canoe Club, won the Senior Open Women Race 1.5 mile sprint at the Garden Island Canoe Race Association Island Championship this past Saturday July 24th. They now have the opportunity to compete in the State Championships in Oahu on August 7th. Way to go Kahea!
Apparently, that wasn’t enough of a challenge. She showed up the next day with the rest of her paddling team at the Tri-Kauai Sprint Triathlon in Poipu and placed second in her age
group with a time of 1:37:07. The sprint consisted of a 700 meter swim, 14 mile road bike and 5K run. And congratulations to Lois Lutz (RA) who finished 1st overall in the women’s division with a time of 1:24:31. Great racing girls!
Jack Baker (RA), former Director of Golf at Princeville Golf Club, played this past weekend on the Prince Golf Course, the #1 rated golf course in Hawaii, on Kauai’s north shore. Jack participated in the Championship flight division and finished the two rounds of golf on the notoriously difficult course layout. He said the
weather was superb and everyone had a great time. He also mentioned that T.J. Kua, a Kauai native who currently plays on the University of Hawaii golf squad on Oahu, came out swinging beautifully on Saturday and tied the course record from the black tee markers (slope rating 140, course rating 75.7) shooting an elegant 69. And! T.J. bettered that score on Sunday, closing with a new and improved record-setting score of 66! Congratulations on a fabulous victory, T.J.! Nice rounds, Jack!
